A local lady from Fulwood, Preston, has won a runner up prize in the 2007 Montgomery Awards receiving £1,000 for future community based projects.

Charitable Joyce Price has organised events such as garden parties, raffles, social outings in the area for many years. The raffle money is then donated to repairs which ensure that service charges are kept to a minimum.

Joyce was also responsible for overseeing the recent work at Hollybank. Hollybank has recently spent over £50,000 on installing aluminium drains and new down spouts and the Tudor work was replaced with steel as were all the verge edges on the roof tiles.

Joyce plans on spending her award money on tidying up certain areas of the complex.

Both residents and Harvest Housing staff nominated for the individuals or groups who they felt had made an invaluable difference to their neighbourhoods.

Kate Forrester, Director, said:

“Joyce is a very special, selfless lady who dedicates her time to enhancing people’s lives. She truly deserves her prize!”

The Montgomery Awards are organised by Harvest Housing Group to recognise those groups or individuals who have made a real difference to the lives of others within all of their communities and neighbourhoods. The awards have now entered their 3rd consecutive year, and are named after former Chairperson of Harvest, Lady Joyce Montgomery, who is now a Patron.
