A local lady has been rewarded the runner up prize in the 2007 Montgomery Awards for her dedication to the local community, receiving £1,000.
Anne Schofield has greatly improved her community, turning around the gardens at Ogden Court, organising coffee mornings, Halloween parties and Christmas dinner. She dedicates her time to help other residents with their gardens, and also volunteers her services at Willow Wood Hospice and her local church.
Anne will spend the winnings on further activities, social gatherings and the garden at Ogden Court.
Both tenants and Harvest staff nominated individuals or groups who they felt had made an invaluable difference to their neighbourhoods.
Kate Forrester, Director of Manchester & District Housing Association, said:
“Anne is a very special, selfless lady who dedicates her time to enhancing people’s lives. She truly deserves her prize!”
The Montgomery Awards are organised by Harvest Housing Group to recognise those groups or individuals who have made a real difference to the lives of others within all of their communities and neighbourhoods. The awards have now entered their 3rd consecutive year, and are named after former Chairperson of Harvest, Lady Joyce Montgomery, who is now a Patron.
