The vicarage group in Birchwood has won a runner up prize in Harvest’s 2007 Montgomery Awards receiving £1,000.

The Vicarage has created an atmosphere of acceptance and encouragement in which support is given to residents in need. The passion and energy of the new vicar means that their support and care is now overflowing into the neighbourhood.

They plan on spending their award money on a new porch at the church.

Both tenants and Harvest Housing staff nominated the individuals or groups who they felt had made an invaluable difference to their neighbourhoods.

Lee Woods, Director of Frontis, a member of Harvest Housing Group, said;

“The Vicarage is made up of selfless people with the desire to make a difference in people’s lives. The group provides a security and support network for residents in need, and their care is being embraced.”

The Montgomery Awards are organised by Harvest Housing Group to recognise those groups or individuals who have made a real difference to the lives of others within all of their communities and neighbourhoods. The awards have now entered their 3rd consecutive year, and are named after former Chairperson of Harvest, Lady Joyce Montgomery, who is now a Patron.
