The first major part of regeneration work in Partington will get underway this week.

Work began to pull down the block of flats on the corner of Lancashire Road and Tulip Road last month with the removal of fixtures and fittings but the larger structural work will begin on Thursday 13 December.

As part of a 12-week programme sixteen flats are to be cleared to make way for a more varied housing offer in the area.

Anila Khalid, Regional Regeneration Manager for Manchester & District Housing Association, of which Partington Housing Association is a subsidiary said:
“The demolitions are a positive step for Partington Housing Association and we know that residents in the area have been extremely patient in this process.”

Partington Housing Association’s development team are currently working on proposals for the best use of the site and have submitted a planning application to the Housing Corporation for funding to enable the regeneration project to go ahead.

In the immediate future, the land will form additional green space next to the Valley Fields play area.
