> Advise bus makes a pit stop in Warrington
People in Warrington experiencing problems with their Housing Benefit or Council Tax are being offered well-needed advice and support – from the inside of a bus!
Warrington-based housing association, Frontis, a member of Harvest Housing Group, has teamed up with Warrington Borough Council to provide a one stop shop for their residents who require advice on whether they are claiming the benefits they are entitled to.
‘The Benefit Bus’ will be situated in front of Birchwood shopping Centre on Wednesday 2 April and residents will be able to receive all the advice they need straight away and in one place. On offer will be; a rent details checking service, help with applying for benefits, assistance with claims and even a ‘while you wait’ claims assessment.
Commenting on the advice day, Bernadette Bell, Neighbourhood Regeneration Officer at Frontis said:
“People are often ill-advised as to the benefits and support they are entitled to and this can cause anxiety for some residents. We feel that it is important to offer people assistance on this issue, and being able to offer it straight away and in one place is an added advantage”.
The Benefit Bus will be parked outside Birchwood Shopping Centre in front of Carphone Warehouse on Wednesday 2 April 2008 from 10am-3pm.
Anybody having a benefit check will also be entered into a free prize draw to win £40 worth of Asda vouchers.
