> Sharing information is the way forward for Harvest
Much has been said recently about the vital role housing associations play in tackling the problems that can sometimes affect their neighbourhoods. Guidance for Housing Associations on improving engagement with Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships was published by Communities Secretary Hazel Blears in February and outlined how Housing Associations can help to eradicate anti-social and criminal behaviour by sharing intelligence with others parties such as the Police.
Manchester & District Housing Association, a member of Harvest Housing Group have recently formed such a partnership with Cheshire Constabulary which they believe will enable them to offer protection and guidance to residents. The Information Sharing Protocol was signed by the two parties and is one of several agreements with external agencies set up over the past years by the Housing Group.
Commenting on the signing, Reece Barton, Community Safety Specialist at Harvest Housing said:
“The Information Sharing Protocol is a fantastic tool for early intervention and detection within our neighbourhoods, ensuring resident safety. The earlier we can detect any issues, the better, as the impact on the neighbourhood is dramatically reduced.”
By working together, it is believed that the agencies can support each other and reduce negative reactions within neighbourhoods or towards individuals.
